Volleyball team takes split at Bethel Invitational

ST. PAUL, Minn. (September 18, 2021) - Sidney Hoverman and Anna Hansen combined for 30 kills as UW-Stout put an end to a three game skid with a 3-1 win over UW-Superior in the Blue Devils' second match of the day at Bethel University Invitational Saturday.

Hoverman came close to her career-best by putting down 19 kills against the Yellowjackets (2-7). Her current best is 21 kills. Hansen did match a career-best with 11 kills against the Yellowjackets. Lexie Nelson recorded a career-best 48 assists against the Yellowjackets. Nelson had three service aces. 

Stout (8-5) won the match, 25-20, 25-18, 20-25, 25-22. The win snapped a three-match losing skid. Stout opened the day with a 25-15, 25-17, 25-17, loss to host Bethel University.

Hoverman led the way offensively against the Royals (8-2), putting down 12 kills as Stout shot only .116. Bethel rang up six service aces in the match and had three players with double-digit kills, led by Emily Rossing's 14. 

Stout returns to conference play, Tuesday, Sept. 21 when they travel to UW-Platteville for a 6 p.m. contest, then will be at Macalester College, Saturday, Sept. 25/
