Graham scores three TDs as Blue Devils win fourth straight over Pointers

UW-Stout 45, UW-Stevens Point 14

STEVENS POINT (September 18, 2021) - Rayshawn Graham ran for three touchdowns and career-high 199 yards as UW-Stout extended their winning streak to four games over UW-Stevens Point with a 45-14 win Saturday at Goerke Field.

Graham capped off his day with a 75-yard TD run in the fourth quarter to give Stout (3-0) what would prove to be the final 45-14 lead. Graham had scoring runs of six yards in the second quarter and one yard in the first quarter.

Blue Devil quarterback Sean Borgerding threw for three touchdowns, hitting Robvon Jackson for 33 yards in the first quarter, Levy Hamer for 12 yards in the second quarter and 53 yards to Arthur Cox in the third quarter.  Borgerding completed 17 of 27 yards for 226 yards and the three scores.

For Jackson, it was his second touchdown of the season longer than 30 yards. For Hamer, it's his third score of the season and his 17th career touchdown. Cox has scored a TD in each of the last two games.

The Blue Devil defense recorded three interceptions, with Gervase Thompson and Carson Strong recording their first collegiate interceptions and Preibe his second of the year and third of his career.

The Blue Devils jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter before the Pointers scored in the waning seconds of the period and, after a block extra point by Scott Gustafson, Stout led 14-6. Stout added two more scores in the second quarter -including Borgerding's TD pass to Hamer with three seconds left in the period - to take a 28-6 lead into the locker room. Borgerding found Cox for the 53 yard score midway through the third period and it was 35-6. The Pointers got their final score of the day as time expired in the third period. Graham rumbled for his big score and Jack Meyer kicked a 26-yard field goal in the fourth.

The 45 points was a season-high for Stout and the most points since Stout closed the 2019 season with a 45-17 win over UW-Eau Claire.

Stout finished with 477 yards of total offense, 249 on the ground, 226 in the air. Hamer and Parker Fossum each hauled in four catches for 48 yards. Tight end Bradley Saurer had a collegiate-high four catches for 27 yards. This is the second time this year that Stout has tallied 475 or more yards in a game. The  Blue Devils recorded 482 against Presentation.

The Pointers were limited to 231 yards of total offense, 60 rushing, 171 through the air. The Stout defense had nine tackles for loss for 37 yards and recorded four total sacks, with Rex Meikle getting 1.5 sacks, Gervase Thompson one and Nate Rewald and Ethan Olson each landing an assist on a sack.

Stout has the bye this week and will open conference play, Saturday, Oct. 2 at UW-Whitewater.
