OSHKOSH (September 11, 2021) - UW-Stout split two games on the final day of the UW-Oshkosh Polito's Classic Saturday.
Stout (7-3) defeated Lakeland University (0-5) in five sets (25-23, 18-25, 25-14, 19-25, 15-6) but lost to St. Norbert College (1-6) in four sets (16-25, 18-25, 25-21, 19-25) on the last day of the UW-Oshkosh Polito's Classic.
The Blue Devils split the first two sets in their first game against Lakeland, but came back with a lopsided 25-14 third set victory. Lakeland came back in the fourth set led by Sydney Pingitore who finished the match with 32 digs. Stout kept strong and won the fifth set with a staggering score of 15-6.
Lexie Nelson led the team with 13 kills and 28 assists with help from
Terrah Moshier who finished with 17 digs.
In the second game against St. Norbert, Stout lost the first two sets, but bounced back in a close third set. The Green Knight's took a hard fought fourth set to win the match. Nelson had another 28 assists to go along with
Sidney Hoverman's 13 kills. St Norbert's Grace Baumann finished the game with 21 kills.
Nelson and Hoverman were selected to the all-tournament team.
UW-Stout volleyball will be back in action on Wednesday, Sept. 15, against UW-La Crosse at 7 p.m. at Johnson Fieldhouse.
