WHITEWATER (April 28, 2021) - UW-Whitewater got their runs in chunks throughout the day and handed UW-Stout a doubleheader sweep Wednesday, taking the conference game 10-1, 7-0.
The eighth-ranked Warhawks (23-4, 15-3 WIAC) scored six runs on five hits and benefited from a Stout two-out error in the second inning of the first game, then added solo runs in the third and fifth innings before the Blue Devils (12-14, 8-10 WIAC) could get on the board in the sixth inning.
Stout would get their only run of the afternoon in the sixth inning.
Charlie Szykowny opened the inning with an infield single, then moved to second on an error. Szykowny moved to third after a double play behind him, then scored on
Colin Hageman's RBI single to left field. Stout had an opportunity to score in the eighth inning, but left two runners on base.Â
Stout finished the game with seven hits to Whitewater's 15 hits. Szykowny was 2 for 4 to lead Stout. Sam Vomhof and Connor Moroder had three hits for Whitewater, while Zach Campbell, Tucker Criswell and Nick Santoro had two hits apiece.

Jace Baumann matched his longest outing of the season, going five innings, surrendering 12 hits and eight runs, but only two earned runs.
Dak Doyle worked three innings and gave up two runs, but none earned.
Stout recorded seven hits again in the second game, but could not get a runner across the plate. Warhawks' pitcher Matt O'Sullivan recorded 14 strikeouts. The Warhawks scored three runs in the first, one in the third and three in the seventh as Whitewater had 11 hits.Â
Alex Jinkins was 2 for 4 for Stout. Tucker Criswell had three hits for Whitewater. Campbell and Santoro each had two hits.Â
The teams will play again Saturday, May 1 in Menomonie. First pitch is schedule for 1 p.m. in the conference doubleheader.
