UW-Whitewater 76, UW-Stout 51
MENOMONIE (February 24, 2021) – UW-Stout scored the first basket of the game, but UW-Whitewater came alive to a take a 19-2 lead at the end of the first quarter and the Warhawks went on to a 76-51 win Wednesday at Johnson Fieldhouse.

The closest Stout (2-5, 2-5 WIAC) would get was a 10-point deficit at halftime, 31-21.

The Warhawks' Aleah Grundahl scored 19 points and Veronica Kieres added 10. Stout got 14 points from senior
Liz Oswald on Senior Night.

The Warhawks (5-2, 5-2 WIAC) employed full court pressure for much of the game and forced 26 Stout turnovers. The Warhawks also controlled the boards with a 50-34 advantage.

Stout shot 6.3 percent (1-16) in the first quarter and finished the game shooting 31.0 percent (18-57). Whitewater shot 41.4 percent (29-70) for the game.

The teams will play again Friday, Feb. 26 in Whitewater and will meet in the first round of the WIAC Championship tournament, Monday, March 1 in Whitewater.
