UW-Stout 108, Finlandia University 75
MENOMONIE (December 21, 2021) - UW-Stout broke the century mark for the second straight game as the Blue Devils ran past Finlandia University, 108-75, Tuesday afternoon on Dewey Mintz Court in Johnson Fieldhouse.
The Blue Devils (9-2) also had six players score in double figures for the second consecutive game as Stout shot out to a 57-39 hafltime lead. While Stout hit 8 of 18 3-pointers, the Blue Devils were dominant in the paint, dropping in 68 points inside the lane compared to 34 for Finlandia (1-15). Stout only trailed briefly after falling behind 2-0 a minute into the game and ballooned the lead up to as much as 26 points in the first half, 52-26, with 4:58 left before intermission. Stout's largest lead of the game came with about three minutes left when
Jacob Walczak hit a 3-pointer to give Stout a 36-point, 103-67 lead.
Stout was led by
Lovell Williams with 24 points.
Jackson Noll hit a career-best 14 points, connecting on three 3-pointers.
Drew Scott finished with 13 points, and
Jon Ciriacks and
Brody Fox each dropped in 10 points. Walczak scored nine points for the Blue Devils. Stout held a 51-37 advantage in rebounds, with Ciriacks clearing seven,
Luke Geiger and Scott six and
Nick Jungel five.
Finlandia was led by BJ Williams with 17 points. Rae'quan Funches and Ilrick Higgins-Moise each scored 14 points.
Stout forced 28 turnovers by Finlandia with Geiger recording four steals and Williams three. Stout scored 36 points off turnovers.
Stout shot 43 of 88 from the field (48.9 percent), 8 of 18 3-pointers (44.4 percent) and 14 of 21 free throws (66.7 percent). The Lions were 27 of 61 from the field (44.3 percent), 7 of 23 from 3-point range (30.4 percent) and 14 of 20 from the line (70.0 percent).
The Blue Devils were able to play all 17 players that were suited up, with 14 players scoring.
Stout returns to action Wednesday, Dec. 29 when they take on Ripon College at Oshkosh Arena in the BSN Classic hosted by UW-Oshkosh and Ripon College. Stout will face Calvin College, Thursday, Dec. 30, in the second day of the classic.
