Stout bounces back from first set loss, down Superior for fifth straight time

SUPERIOR (October 26, 2021) - UW-Stout bounced back from an opening set loss to win the next three sets on their way to downing UW-Superior 3-1 Tuesday at Mertz Morerelli Gym.

The Yellowjackets (10-18) took the first set, 25-21, but Stout (14-11) reversed the score with a 25-21 win to even the match. 

Jessica Barr and Sidney Hoverman combined for 25 kills in the four-set win, with Barr putting down 13 kills and Hoverman 12. Emili Cain finished the night with eight kills and Lexie Nelson and Anna Hansen each had seven kills. 

The Blue Devils held the upper hand in the final two sets, winning 25-15 and 25-19. 

Nelson dished off 34 assists and finished with two solo blocks and five assisted blocks. Hansen had one solo block and five assisted blocks. Alyssa Ihde had three service aces and two block assists. Stout had seven service aces to two for Superior.

Superior got nine kills each from Maiana Stark, Alexie Pryd and Kaylin Plautz. 

This was Stout's fifth consecutive win over the Yellowjackets. Stout had beaten Superior by an identical 3-1 score earlier this season.

The Blue Devils will wrap up the regular season Friday, Oct. 29 at UW-Whitewater and Saturday, Oct. 30 at Concordia University-Wisconsin.
