Stout hockey falls 3-2 in overtime in exhibition contest at Saint Mary's



WINONA, Minn. (October 23, 2021) - UW-Stout lost 3-2 in overtime at Saint Mary's University in a season-opening exhibition contest Saturday.

The Cardinals' Tyson Liverance delivered the game-winning goal at 1:55 in the overtime period.

After a scoreless first period, Stout got on the board nine seconds into the second period when Riley Enderle scored, on assists by Brandon Connett and Cole Beckstead. 

Saint Mary's tied the game at 10:58 on a goal by Nick Kiemel, then took the lead on a goal by Brady Lindauer at 16:41.

The Blue Devils tied the score when Dylan Rallis scored at 4:59 of the third period, with an assist by Joey Petronack. 

Stout was 0 for 3 on the power play, while the Cardinals were 1 for 2. Stout used three goalies. Brennan Kitchen started and recorded 10 saves and no goals. Zack Cloutier worked the second and third period and recorded 20 saves and gave up two goals. Tyler Masternak worked the overtime period and recorded two saves and one goal, getting tagged with the loss. 

Stout gets the season underway by hosting Bethel University, Friday, Oct. 29 and Concordia University-Wisconsin, Saturday, Oct. 30. Both games are scheduled to get underway at 7 p.m.
