Blue Devils' Jack Meyer repeats as WIAC Special Teams Athlete of the Week

MENOMONIE (October 12, 2021) - UW-Stout kicker/punter Jack Meyer (Fr, Chippewa Falls) was selected as the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) special teams player of the week for the second time this season after the Blue Devils' 38-34 win over UW-Eau Claire Saturday.

Meyer kicked a 51-yard field goal – the second longest of his collegiate career - to tie the game at 31-31 late in the third quarter in an eventual 38-34 win over UW-Eau Claire on Oct. 9 at Carson Park. Meyer also had two punts for an average of 46.0 yards per punt, with a long of 51. Meyer's seven kickoffs in the game averaged 55.7 yards, with two touchbacks. 

A freshman, Meyer was the WIAC special teams athlete of the week after a win over St. Norbert where he booted a collegiate-best 52-yard field goal, the longest kick among conference players and is tied in the NCAA Division III as the second-longest field goal of the season. Meyer is tied with Wheaton (Ill) Tommy Gallagher for second. Gettysburg's Doug Cummings has kicked a 55-yard field. Meyer's 51-yard kick is the fourth-longest kick of the season in Division III. The longest kick of the season across the NCAA is a 57-yard kick by Ben Raybon of Northern Colorado, affiliated with the FCS Division.

For the season, Meyer is 5 for 7 in field goals and is averaging a conference-best 40.7 yards per kick.
