Blue Devils split second day of Rosemont Dome games

UW-Stout 7, Buena Vista 1 | University of Chicago 9, UW-Stout 7

ROSEMONT, Ill. (March 8, 2020) - After a 7-1 win over Buena Vista University, UW-Stout suffered their first loss of the young season with a 9-7 loss to the University of Chicago at the Rosemont Dome Games Sunday.

The Blue Devils opened with one run in the first inning, then used a four-run second inning to power past the Beavers. Kesley Urich keyed the inning with a two-run single. Jessica Daley and Meghan Kelly also drove in a run in the inning for a 5-0 lead. Stout added two more runs in the seventh on RBIs by Kelly Beck and Kenzie Lohse. Sommer Kunstmann allowed no runs and five hits to get her first win of the season.

University of Chicago 9, UW-Stout 7
Chicago overcame a 6-1 deficit with a six-run third inning. The Blue Devils scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning, taking advantage of two Chicago errors. Stout added two more runs in the third inning on a sacrifice fly by Jessica Daley and an RBI single by Meghan Kelly. Chicago scored six runs on three hits and an error in the third. Mary Iliopoulos was 2 for 4 with three runs scored and a triple to lead Stout. Daley had two RBI, as did Kelly.

The Blue Devils are off until they begin their annual spring break trip, playing 12 games between March 17-24 in Clermont, Fla.
