Volleyball splits on second day at Bethel invitational

UW-Stout 3, Luther College 1 | Minnesota-Morris 3, UW-Stout 2

ARDEN HILLS, Minn. (September 14, 2019) - UW-Stout split a pair of matches on the second day of the Bethel invitational Saturday. The Blue Devils defeated Luther College 3-1, but then lost in five sets to Minnesota-Morris. 

After dropping both matches Friday night, Stout rebounded 25-14, 25-27, 28-26, 25-20 to get back on the winning track. Lexie Nelson had 13 kills against Luther, and Amber Ripley and Lydia Kneubuehl both had 11 kills.

Jessica Duval had 31 assists and Anna Hall had four assisted blocks. Steph Cannon had 33 digs.

Against Minnesota-Morris, Nelson racked up 17 kills and Ripley had 12. The Blue Devils won the first two sets 25-22, 25-16, but the Cougars came back to sweep the final three sets, 25-18, 25-23, 15-12. Jessica DuVal had 27 assists and Nelson 20. 

DuVal was named to the all-tournament team. 

Volleyball will host UW-Platteville Tuesday, Sept. 17 at 7 p.m.
