UW-Stout 12, Grinnell College 6
ROCHESTER, Minn (February 24, 2019) - UW-Stout scored in every inning they batted in except one inning on their way to a 12-6 win over Grinnell College to run their season-opening record to 3-0 at the Luther College Dome Games Friday.
Meghan Kelly stayed hot at the plate, driving in Stout's first run of the game with a double in a two-run first inning. Kelly drove in two runs in a four-run second inning with a shot to center field. After allowing two runs in the top of the third, Stout neutralized those runs with a pair of runs of their own in the bottom half of the inning on a two-run shot by
Jessica Daley to take an 8-2 lead.Â
Freshman
Shannon Jones drove in a run on a pinch hit single in the fifth to stretch the lead to 9-2. Grinnell put up four runs in the top of the sixth. Stout got three of those runs back in the bottom of the inning on an RBI single by
Kim Labahn and a two-run double by freshman Jessica Christianson.Â
Kelly pitched four innings to get the win, scattiering six hits and allowing two runs. Kelly was 2 for 4 with three RBI.
Daley was 2 for 2 with three RBI. Christianson was 2 for 4 with two RBI.Â
On the weekend, Kelly was 7 of 12 with six RBI on two doubles and a triple and stole one base.  In the circle, Kelly made two appearances, going 1-0 with a save, scattering seven hits, allowing two earned runs, walking two and striking out two. Daley was 5 for 8 with five RBI for the weekend.Â
The Blue Devils are off until they play 14 games at the PFX Games in the Orlando, Fla., area March 22-29.Â
