UW-Eau Claire 6, UW-Stout 0
EAU CLAIRE (November 2, 2019) - The UW-Stout soccer team saw their season end on a sour note. On a cold, fall afternoon, the Blue Devils hosted UW-Eau Claire on the Blugolds' own field and Eau Claire carried out a 6-0 win over the Blue Devils Saturday at Bollinger Field.
In their 18th consecutive road game this season, the Blue Devils did not get off a shot and Eau Claire did. Both teams went 20 minutes without a shot. Eau Claire scored twice in the first half, then scattered four goals in the second half.Â
Claudia Anderson had nine saves for the Blue Devils. The Blue Devils finished the season at 5-13-0, 1-6-0 in conference play.
The Blue Devils will look for better days next season when their road trip travails are expected to come to an end. Stout's home field, Nelson Field, is undergoing renovations this fall, forcing the Blue Devils on the road for the entirety of the season. The artificial surface field is expected to be ready for the 2020 season.
Playing their final collegiate games today were
Sarah Dickmann and
Bella Pedlar.
The Blugolds will host UW-River Falls Tuesday, Nov. 5 in the first round of the WIAC Soccer Championship.
