Nelson has triple double, but Titans edge past Stout 3-1

OSHKOSH (October 18, 2019) - UW-Stout's Lexie Nelson put up a triple double, but it was UW-Oshkosh that recorded the 3 that ultimately counted, the 3 in the win column, as the Titans defeated the Blue Devils 3-1 Friday at the Kolf Sports Center. 

Nelson recorded 12 kills, 22 assists and 12 digs, her fourth triple double of the season, in a four-set match that was tied a total of 28 times and three sets went beyond the regulation 25 points. The Titans (19-6, 4-1 WIAC) took a 28-26, 27-25, 20-25, 28-26 win.

After losing the first two sets, Stout (18-7, 1-4 WIAC) rallied in the third set for a 25-20 win behind four kills by Nelson. Stout led 24-22 in the fourth set, but the Titans managed to find a way to get past the Blue Devils and secure the win.

Lydia Kneubuehl led Stout in kills, tallying 13, and had a collegiate-best six block assists. Steph Cannon, who leads the league in digs, finished the night with 25 digs. Cannon also had three of Stout's four service aces. Jessica Duval contributed 24 assists.

The Titans' Samantha Jaeke had a career-best 20 kills to surpass 1,000 career kills. 

Stout returns home Wednesday, Oct. 23 to host UW-River Falls at 7 p.m. Stout will play a pair of games Saturday, Oct. 26 at Concordia-Wisconsin, meeting the Falcons and Carroll University.
