UW-Platteville 68, UW-Stout 64
PLATTEVILLE (January 12, 2019) - UW-Platteville outscored UW-Stout, 22-13, in the fourth quarter and went on to a 68-64 win over the Blue Devils in Platteville. Stout held a 51-46 lead at the end of the third quarter.
The Pioneers opened the fourth quarter with a 3-pointer by Rachel Emendorfer to pull to within two points and Morgan Horstman knotted the score. The Blue Devils'
Lizzy Olsem gave Stout the lead by at 53-51 with a bucket, but two free throws Horstman tied the score for the 11th time in the game. Emendorfer hit another 3-pointer for a three point Platteville lead, and the Pioneers never trailed, although Stout twice tied the game, the final time on two free throws by
Kyncaide Diedrich with just over two minutes left to play. Six points down the final stretch by Horstman would seal the win.
Bailey Diersen led Stout (12-3, 2-2 WIAC) with 21 points. Diedrich tossed in 15 points and
Carolyn Feddema scored 10 points and pulled down eight rebounds. Stout shot only 16.7 percent (3-18) in the fourth quarter and 30.8 percent (20-65) for the game.
Emendorfer led the Pioneers (7-8, 2-2 WIAC) with 22 points. Caitlyn Tipton contributed 15 points. Maiah Domask had 10 points and nine rebounds.
Stout returns home Wednesday, Jan 16 to host UW-River Falls at 7 p.m.
