Simonson's career high leads Stout over La Crosse

MENOMONIE (September 29, 2018) - Kara Simonson set a career-high that helped propel UW-Stout past UW-La Crosse 3-1 Saturday in WIAC volleyball action at Johnson Fieldhouse.

Simonson collected 17 kills and started off the day with five kills in the opening 25-20 first set. She had two as the Blue Devils (8-8, 2-1 WIAC) dropped the second set, 25-14, but then recovered her game six kills in set three that Stout won, 25-19. Simonson closed out her day with four kills in a 25-17 win. In the three sets that Stout won, Simonson delivered a kill to finish off the set.

McKylie Hoff had nine kills and stuffed a couple of attacks late in the final set to keep the Eagles (10-7, 2-1 WIAC) off the scoreboard. Jessica DuVal had eight kills to go along with her 35 assists. Steph Cannon had a season-high 41 digs, just three short of her career-best.

Marisa Johnson led La Crosse with 11 kills. The Eagles recorded three solo blocks and 12 assisted blocks, while Stout had only two assisted blocks.

Stout will close out a four-match home-stand Wednesday, Oct. 3 when the Blue Devils host St. Mary's University at 7 p.m.
