Volleyball team splits on second day at Oregon Trail Classic

UW-Stout 3, Willamette University 1 | Lewis and Clark College 3, UW-Stout 0

PORTLAND, Ore (September 1, 2018) - UW-Stout ran their season-opening winning streak to three matches with a 3-1 win over Willamette College at the Oregon Trail Classic, but closed out the day with a three-set loss to host Lewis and Clark College Saturday.

Kenndy Strain recorded a team-high 16 kills against Willamette and also had two solo blocks and two block assists. Amber Ripley had 14 kills.

Against Lewis and Clark, Strain found her way to 11 kills and Ripley was right behind with 10 kills.

Strain was named to the all-tournament team, finishing the weekend with 72 kills, eight solo blocks and seven block assists.

The Blue Devils (3-1) will return to action at the UW-Oshkosh Pizza Hut Classic, Sept. 7-8.

The first three wins were the first collegiate wins of first year UW-Stout coach Mandy Trautmann.
