Augustana College 5, UW-Stout 1
FORT MYERS, Fla. (March 16, 2018) - UW-Stout and starting pitcher
Zach Carlson had to overcome a rough first inning and the Blue Devils did settle down, but could not catch Augustana College and lost 5-1 to the Vikings, Friday at the Gene Cusic Classic.
The Vikings (9-2) scored three runs, two unearned, as the Blue Devils (3-7) committed a costly error. Carlson would go on to surrender only four hits on the afternoon and struck out four as the Vikings scored single runs in the fourth and eighth innings.
Stout scored their only run of the game in the third inning as
Jack Hemsath, who earlier in the game reached with a single to stretch his hitting streak to eight games, lifted a sacrifice fly to score
Jared Jarvensivu.
Hemsath would finish the game going 2-for-3, the sole Blue Devil to score more than one hit today.
Carlson did not allow any of the Vikings' players to get more than one hit, although Matt Loeffl, who was 1-for-4 did rack up three RBI.
Stout will close out their spring break trip Saturday when they play Plattsburgh State.
