UW-Stout 8, North Park 3 | UW-Stout 9, Mount St. Joseph 2
CLERMONT, Fla (March 12, 2018) - UW-Stout got the bats going, rapping out a combined 23 hits as the Blue Devils made it four in a row in Florida with an 8-3 win over North Park University and a 9-2 victory over Mount St. Joseph College Monday.
Stout (5-1) pounded out 12 hits against North Park and 11 against Mount St. Joseph.
It was a combination effort against the North Park Vikings, with
Jessica Daley,
Kaylee Francois and
Meghan Kelly each getting two hits.Â
North Park scored two runs in the first, but the Blue Devils got them back in the bottom of the inning. The Vikings knotted the score, but Stout took it back with a run in the fourth to give
Sommer Kunstmann her first collegiate win.
Beth Wood came on in the fifth to close the game and earn the save, but not before the Blue Devils exploded for four runs in the fifth to seal the win.
It was more of the same in the nightcap over Mount St. Joseph. Stout held a 2-1 lead going into the fifth where they scored two to take a 4-1 lead. Mount St. Joseph added a run in the fifth, but Stout pounded out three runs in the sixth and two in the seventh.Â
Wood went the distance against Mount St. Joseph, allowing five hits.Â
Stout will play Albright College and Olivet College, Tuesday, March 13.Â
