Elliott hits big again on Senior Night, but Titans hit bigger

UW-Oshkosh 91, UW-Stout 70

MENOMONIE (February 17, 2018) - For the second consecutive game, UW-Stout senior Isaac Elliott scored a career-best, but it was UW-Oshkosh that had an even bigger game, as the Titans defeated the Blue Devils 91-70 on Senior Day Saturday on Dewey Mintz Court in Johnson Fieldhouse.

Elliott was coming off a 27 point effort in his last outing and topped that number with 28 points. For the third time this season, Elliott tied a UW-Stout (8-17, 2-12 WIAC) free throw percentage record, making all eight of his charity shots. Elliott was 8-of-18 from the floor and 4-of-8 from 3-point range.

The Titans (19-6, 9-5 WIAC), who had already tied up the third seed in the WIAC tournament that begins next week, came up one 3-point basket short of tying the school record for most 3-pointers in a game, dropping 21 3-pointers.

Brett Wittchow led the assault for the Titans, hitting eight 3-pointers and finished the night with 24 points. The Titans drilled 10 3-pointers in the first half and ran out to a 46-27 halftime lead. Stout never get closer than 15 points the rest of the way.

Ben Boots scored 21 points for the Titans, dropping in 7-of-9 3-pointers for all his points. Charlie Noone tallied 14 points and Jack Flynn had 13 points. Adam Fravert pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds.

Stout got 11 points from senior Sam Ortmann. The Blue Devils recognized Elliott, Ortmann, Brandyn Christman, Adam Mackey and team manager Jacey Schlagenhaft after the game.

Elliott finished his career with 861 points, ranking 39th on the UW-Stout all-time list. Ortmann finished with 732 career points, good for 50th. Christman, in his third year with the team, tallied 145 points after transferring from UM-Duluth. Mackey, in his two years with the program, finished with 119 point after tranferring from Gogebic Community College.
