UW-Stout 83, Crown College 40
MENOMONIE (December 7, 2018) -
Liz Oswald scored 16 of her career-high 22 points in the middle two quarters to lead UW-Stout to an 83-40 win over Crown College Friday on Dewey Mintz Court in Johnson Fieldhouse.
The contest was relatively close in the first quarter as Stout took a five point, 19-14 lead, but Stout (8-0) took off on a 12-0 to start the second period. Oswald and
Shannan Watkins each scored five points to fuel the run and the Blue Devils would not stop scoring on their way to their eighth consecutive win, leading 49-23 at halftime and 65-37 at the end of the third period.
Oswald, whose previous collegiate-best was nine points, was 9 of 15 from the floor and 4 of 8 from 3-point range.
Becky Fesenmaier doubled her previous career-best by tallying 14 points, hitting 6 of 9 field goals, including two 3-pointers. Watkins finished with 12 points and
Kyncaide Diedrich scored 10 points.
The Storm (2-6) were led by Damonyka Roberts with 10 points.
The Blue Devils kept up their defensive pressure, creating 35 turnovers, including 21 steals, coming on the heels of a game earlier this week where they recorded 29 steals. Fesenmaier and Diedrich led the way with five steals apiece. Nine Blue Devils had at least one steal.
Stout shot 42.3 percent from the field (33-78), 33.3 percent from 3-point range (9-27) and 72.7 percent from the line (8-11). Crown shot 34.1 percent from field goal range (15-44), 30 percent from beyond the arc (3-10) and 50 percent from the line (7-14).
Stout held a 42-38 advantage off the glass.
Lizzy Olsem pulled down a career-best seven rebounds to lead Stout.
The Blue Devils will host Ripon College, Tuesday, Dec. 11 at 7 p.m.
