FOND DU LAC (November 17, 2018) - UW-Stout did not allow a goal the entire weekend, picking up their second consecutive shutout, this time with a 4-0 over seventh-ranked Marian University Saturday on the Sabres' home ice.
In getting their third shutout of the season, the Blue Devils (6-2-0) scored two goals in the first period and two goal in the third period. The Blue Devil defense was golden as
Tommi Ahlgren stopped 27 shots on net, running his total for the weekend to 59 saves without letting in a goal.
The Blue Devils also took advantage on the power play, picking up two power play goals in six opportunities.
Two captains combined for the Blue Devils first goal when
Lucas Carroll took a pass from
Adam Kresl at 11:13 in the first period. Five minutes later, Stout scored on the power play when
Alex Bowe teamed with
Logan Nelson to make the score 2-0 at 16:13 of the first.
No pucks crossed the line during the second period and Stout got back in the scoring column when
Arturas Laukaitis snagged a power play goal at 5:02 in the third, with assists by Nelson and
Joe Kleven. Stout closed out the night when
Alex Toscano scored in an empty net with just over a minute remaining, on an assist by
Connor Chambers.
