Strong second half lifts Blue Devils to win over Finlandia

SUPERIOR (November 10, 2018) - UW-Stout outscored Finlandia University 48-30 in the second half and went on to down the Lions, 84-65, Saturday at the Merrill Thompson Classic at UW-Superior.
 
The win moves the Blue Devils to 2-0 under first year coach Jim Lake.
 
Jon Ciriacks scored nine of this 11 points in the second to lead the Blue Devils' charge.
 
Braden Walback led Stout with 12 points, seven in the second half. Luke Geiger scored 11 points for Stout.
 
Stout led 36-35 at intermission, but warmed up to 48.4 percent shooting in the second half, while holding Finlandia (0-2) to 33.3 percent second half shooting. Stout hit 10 3-point shots, five in each half.
 
The Lions Jaden Janke led all scorers with 18 points.
 
Stout will host the UW-Stout Tip Off, Friday, Nov. 16 and Saturday, Nov. 17. Stout will play McMurry University and Bethel University. UW-Eau Claire will be the fourth team at the tournament.
