UW-River Falls 21, UW-Stout 19
RIVER FALLS (October 13, 2018) - In a game that featured four lead swings, UW-Stout (3-3, 1-2) comes out on the short end to fall to UW-River Falls (2-4, 1-2), 21-19, Saturday at Ramer Field.
After stopping the Falcons on back to back possessions, Stout put up the first points of the game with just under nine minutes left in the first quarter.
Drew Pearson knocked a 51 yard field goal to give the Blue Devils the lead.
After one play on the next drive for the Blue Devils forced a fumble on a sack and the ball was recovered by Stout's
Brandon Vecchio. Stout was unable to put points on the board with the turnover as they went for it on fourth down on the Falcons 24 yard line. An incomplete pass led to a turnover on downs for the Blue Devils.
After the turnover on downs, the Falcons Ben Beckman connected on a 63 yard touchdown pass to Trenton Monson to take the lead in the first quarter.
At the start of the second quarter, the Blue Devils found themselves at their own one yard line. But that didn't phase Stout as they went onto drive the football 99 yards to score on a four yard touchdown pass.

Levy Hamer as the Blue Devils regained the lead at 10-7 with 11 minutes left in the half.
On some back and forth possessions, the Falcons' Tyler Blum rushed 13 yards to have the Falcons back on top 14-10 going into halftime.
Halfway through the third quarter,
Drew Pearson split the uprights 31 yards out for his second field goal of the game. The Blue Devils still trailed by one.
On the next possession for the Falcons, Ben Beckman completed a pass to Brett Wadman for a 24 yard touchdown reception. It was still a one possession game, but the Blue Devils found themselves down 21-13 with four minutes left in the third quarter.
The Blue Devils countered the Falcons and scored on their next possession on a
Sean Borgerding pass to
Parker Fossum for 13 yards. Stout decided to go for two to try and tie the game up, but failed to do so. The score remained at 21-19 in favor of the Falcons.
After the Blue Devils touchdown, Stout forced a fumble and
Brandon Vecchio scooped up the ball for his second fumble recovery of the game. As momentum was in Stout's favor, the Falcons' Antoin Kealoha intercepted a pass.
In a back and forth matchup in the fourth quarter, no score was put up on the scoreboard and the Blue Devils fell to River Falls, 21-19.
Both teams were above 400 yards of total offense, but the Falcons led in that category 455 to 422.
Sean Borgerding led the air attack with 274 yards to go along with two touchdowns.
Levy Hamer was his main target as Hamer finished the game with eight receptions for 100 yards and a touchdown.
Parker Fossum had 88 yards on five receptions and a touchdown.
On the ground,
Keyshawn Carpenter led the Blue Devils with 95 yards.
Rayshawn Graham also ran for 38 yards.
Jed Schlegel led the defense with tackles with 12.
Drew Pearson was 2-2 on field goals including a 51 yard field goal, just two yards shy of his career high of 53 yards.
