MENOMONIE (January 24, 2018) - UW-Stout fought back from a 10 point deficit and took a 57-56 lead in the waning seconds, but UW-La Crosse's Milton Cummings buried a 3-pointer as the shot clock expired and the Eagles carried a 59-57 win out of Johnson Fieldhouse Wednesday.

The Blue Devils (7-11, 1-6 WIAC) trailed 36-26 at 18:18 of the second half and 40-30 at 15:48. The Blue Devils went on a 12-2 run, fueled by two steals and five points - including a dunk off a steal - by Peyton Fulkerson to tie the game at 42-42 with 10:33 remaining.

The Eagles (11-7, 5-2 WIAC) jumped out to a nine point, 56-47 lead with 6:09, burying back-to-back 3-pointers by Taulvish McCray and Ben Meinholz. Cummings had started that Eagles' run by hitting a 3-pointer, La Crosse's first 3-pointer of the night.

Stout chipped away, holding the Eagles scoreless for nearly the next six minutes. Sam Ortmann scored four points, Zach Dahl hit two free throws and Joe Duty scored a bucket to pull Stout to within one point, 56-55. Dahl gave the Blue Devils the lead with less than 40 seconds remaining.

Stout nearly kept the Eagles scoreless, taking away a number of scoring opportunities before Cummings worked free on the baseline and drilled the game-winner.

Ortmann scored 16 points to lead all scorers. Isaac Elliott scored 12 points, all in the first half.

The Eagles got 15 points from Cummings and Ben Meinholz.

Stout will be at UW-Platteville, Saturday, Jan. 27 at 7 p.m.
