UW-Stout 73, UW-Platteville 70
PLATTEVILLE (January 28, 2017) -
Jacob Nordstrom scored a career-best 19 points as UW-Stout defeated UW-Platteville, 73-70, Saturday at Bo Ryan Court.
Nordstrom snapped his career-best in the first half when he scored 13 points before intermission. The Blue Devil big man was 8-of-11 for the evening from the floor and dropped in three free throws.
The Blue Devils (13-6, 4-4 WIAC) took a 38-29 lead into the halftime locker room. The Pioneers (8-11, 1-7 WIAC) charged back to take as much as a four point lead in the second half, but the game went back and forth with 10 tied scores in the second half. Two free throws by
John Keefe with 10 seconds remaining proved to be the margin of victory for Stout.
Keefe finished the game with nine points, seven in the second half.
Brett Ahsenmacher matched a season-high with 11 points.
The Pioneers were led by Robert Duax's 16 points. Cory Vaasen scored a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds.
Stout returns to Johnson Fieldhouse to host UW-Eau Claire, Wednesday, Feb. 1 at 7 p.m.
