Hamline University 1, UW-Stout 0
CHIPPEWA FALLS (September 7, 2016) – Hamline University scored within the first 15 minutes of the game and held on for a 1-0 win over UW-Stout Wednesday on Dorais Field at Chippewa Falls High School.
Â
The Pipers' Mayla Hirshkowitz lofted a long shot from about 30 yards out that went over the outstretched arms of Blue Devil goalkeeper
Lynn Johnson (Fr, Shakopee, Minn) in the 13th minute of the contest.
Â
The Pipers kept the pressure on, but the Blue Devil defense turned away all other shots. Johnson finished the humid, foggy evening with nine saves on the night.
Â
The Blue Devils had one solid chance to tie the game in the 75th minute when
Sydney Kasper's (So, Owatonna, Minn) high shot was punched up by Pipers' goalie Amy Ramras, who used all of her 5-foot, 10-inches to bounce the ball off the crossbar and out of play.
Â
The Pipers outshot Stout 18-7 overall and 10-3 on net.
Â
The game was played on the artificial surface in Chippewa Falls because the recent rains in northwest Wisconsin made the natural surface of Nelson Field unplayable.
Â
Stout is scheduled to host the Milwaukee School of Engineering, Friday, Sept. 9 at 7 p.m. and Benedictine University, Saturday, Sept. 10 at 4 p.m.
