UW-Stout 7, Heidelberg 4FORT MEYERS FLA. (March 14, 2016) - The Blue Devils were only supposed to play seven innings in their first game of their Fort Meyers trip - instead it took 10 and a walk-off double by
Austin Littmann in the bottom of the 10th to secure a 6-5 victory. The Blue Devils swept Heidelberg with a 7-4 nightcap win.
The game was tied 0-0 through two innings until Stout jumped out in front 2-1 after
Ryan Connor singled to right which brought home
Noah Brown and
Jon Krueger. From there the two teams went back and forth, scoring in all but two innings. Stout got one final push in the bottom of the seventh from
Tyler Nalbach; he singled and drove home senior
Josh Halling.
The game was scoreless until Littmann drove home the game winner.
Stout kept their offense rolling in the second game of the double-header. The Blue Devils knocked in seven runs on ten hits, while Heidelberg had nine hits, but was only able to tally four runs.
Noah Brown had three of the Blue Devil hits; he also reached base on two walks.
The Blue Devils plan to keep this win streak rolling as they face a familiar Bethel University Royals team tomorrow.
