UW-Stout 1, UW-River Falls 1 (OT)RIVER FALLS (February 27, 2016) - This is one time where a tie feels like a loss. UW-Stout finished in a 1-1 tie at UW-River Falls Saturday, but the Falcons take the WIAC semi-finals series on the strength of their win the night before.
The Blue Devils (10-13-6) needed to win the game to force a 20-minute mini-game, but that didn't happen and the season ends for Stout.
Gavin Smith put the Blue Devils up when he scored at 12:47 in the second period.
The Falcons' (16-6-6) Cory Lushanko tied the game at 7:24 in the third period.
The Blue Devils pulled their goalie for the final 1-minute, 15-seconds, but did not got off a shot on goal with an extra attacker on the ice to close out the game.
Nick Schmit finished the game with 26 saves, while the Falcons' Tanner Milliron had 21 saves.
