UW-River Falls 103, Robert Morris 98
MENOMONIE (November 18, 2016) - UW-Stout hosted 22nd-ranked Hope College Flying Dutchman and were unable to close out on top in their home opener at Dewey Mintz Court in Johnson Fieldhouse.
The Blue Devils (1-1) found themselves in a tough battle on offense, as the Flying Dutchmen (1-0) held them to 25 percent shooting on the night. Stout was led by
Isaac Elliott who poured in 17 points off the bench.
Elliott started his night off by draining Stout's second bucket, a three pointer that was assisted by
John Keefe. The Blue Devils found themselves in an early hole as they trailed in the first half by 14, down 19-5. Stout soon fired back to end the half on a good note, bringing the game to within 12, after Keefe drained two free throws. Stout was down 36-24 at half.
In the second half, the Blue Devils were unable to close the gap, as the two teams traded buckets. Stout got to within 10 around the eight minute mark, but the Flying Dutchman stretched out their lead on a few fastbreak scores. The final buzzer sounded, the final being 70-50 Flying Dutchman on top.
Keefe finished the game a few shy of a triple double, scoring nine points, grabbing nine rebounds and dishing seven assists. Behind Keefe, Lahti was the third leading scored for Stout with eight points.
Hope's Harrison Blackledge was the game-high scorer with 21 points.
Stout will face off tomorrow against Robert Morris at 3 p.m. in Johnson Fieldhouse, while Hope will play UW-River Falls at 1 p.m.
