Ashley Pratt finished with 15 kills and
Kennedy Strain had a strong night defensively at the net as UW-Stout defeated Gustavus Adolphus College in four sets Tuesday at Johnson Fieldhouse.
The Blue Devils (9-8) were coming off a poor attacking night in their last outing, and tonight put the ball down when they needed to. Pratt finished the night hitting at a .268 clip, while Strain added 11 kills and hit .333.
Defensively, Strain had two solo blocks and two block assists. Pratt,
Olivia Jung and
Carli Langeland each finished with two block assists.
Jessica DuVal dished off 39 assists.
After eking out a 25-23 opening set win, the Blue Devisl won the second set 25-18. The Gusties (13-4) reversed the score in the third set with a 25-18 win. The fourth set was close, tied at 16-16 when the Blue Devils back the serving of
Becky Bradshaw and ran away at the end.
The Gusties' Lauren Hansen finished with 14 kills, followed by Hanna Albers with 12 and Shaefer Rupar with 10. Hansen and Sam Haugen each had three block assists. The Gusties were receiving votes in the latest AVCA Top 25 poll.
The Blue Devils return to conference action this weekend, traveling to UW-Whitewater, Friday, Oct. 7 and to UW-Platteville, Saturday, Oct. 8.
