Blue Devils score all of their goals in third period, fall to Superior 6-3

SUPERIOR (January 29, 2016) - A night after playing ninth ranked UW-Eau Claire to a 2-2 tie, UW-Stout was dropped 6-3 by UW-Superior Friday at Wessman Arena.

The Blue Devils (9-7-5, 1-2-1 WIAC) trailed 4-0 going into the third period before Shayne McLaughlin (Jr, Eau Claire) found the back of the net four minutes into the stanza. Riley Colvard (Jr, Centerville, Minn) cut the score in half with nine minutes remaining, but the Yellowjackets got two goals in just over two minutes of playing time - Ian Ecklund scored at 13:33 and Jordan Neduzek at 15:37.

The Blue Devils added one final tally when Justin Moody (Jr, Fargo, ND) scored at 18:40 on the power play.

Freshman Nick Schmit (Fargo, ND) was chased after the first four goals, making 29 saves. Spencer Viele (Jr, Wildwood, Mo) came on and recorded 12 saves. The Yellowjackets' Cory Simons made 28 saves.

Stout returns to home action Tuesday, Feb. 2 when they host UW-Stevens Point. The Blue Devils play their final home game of the season, Thursday, Feb. 4 when they host UW-River Falls.
