ST. PAUL, Minn. (September 8, 2015) - UW-Stout picked up their first win of the season, and didn't need to go into overtime to do.

After two double overtime ties to open the season, the Blue Devils (1-0-2) made Jenna Kizlik's (Sr, Hammond) first period goal stand-up and went on to a 1-0 win over St. Catherine University Tuesday.

Kizlik scored unassisted in the 26th minute for the eventual game-winner when she collected the ball about 30 yards out, took a single touch and launched the shot with her left foot over the keeper into the side net.

Stout held the shooting advantage in the first half, outshooting the Wildcats (2-1-0), 7-3, as St. Kate put three shots on goal and Stout four in the stanza. The shooting tide turned in the second half as St. Kate's outshot Stout, 7-1, and put two shots on net. Stout did not have any shots on net after the break.

The Blue Devils' Paige Meyer (Sr, Beldenville) had a solid day, recording four saves, while the Wildcats' Danielle Mendez made three saves, all in the first half.

Blue Devil coach Ryan Raufus said Meyer had a "phenomenal" day in the net. "Paige made reactionary saves in both halves," Raufus said, "and was equally good against crosses."

Stout returns to St. Paul Saturday, Sept. 12 when they will travel to the University of St. Thomas for a 1 p.m. contest.
