UW-Stout 3, St. Mary's University 1DUBUQUE, Iowa (September 12, 2015) - UW-Stout closed out the Loras College Invitational by splitting a pair of games Saturday, dropping the first contest, 3-1, to Wartburg College, but coming back for a 3-1 win over St.Mary's University in the finale.
Stout (8-3) lost to Warburg College 24-26, 25-12, 25-21, 25-20, but turned the 3-1 around to down St. Mary's , 25-21, 17-25, 27-25, 25-21.
The Knights outdid Stout at the net, recording three solo blocks and 13 block assists. Wartburg recorded 12 more kills than Stout for the match. Claire Willenbring had 15 kills for Wartburg and Krystal Graves contributed 14. Ashely Pratt (So, Lakeville, Minn), who was named to the all-tournament team, had 13 kills for Stout.
Steph Cannon (Fr, Mora, Minn) had 31 digs.
The Blue Devils stepped up at the net against St. Mary's, as Stout collected five solo blocks and 16 block assists. Pratt and
Carly Troudt (So, Lino Lake, Minn) each had two solo blocks.
Rachel Tschumperlin (Sr, Fairmont, Minn) had five block assists and
Laura Reiter (Sr, Lino Lakes, Minn) and Kenney Strain (Fr, Elk River, Minn) each had four block assists. Strain added 12 kills and Reiter contributed 11 kills.
Stout returns to Menomonie to host nationally ranked University of Northwestern, Wednesday, Sept. 16 at 7 p.m., then will be at the Gustavus Adolphus Invitational, Saturday, Sept. 19 to face the Gusties and Concordia-Moorhead.
