MENOMONIE (March 31, 2014) - Twenty-eight UW-Stout senior scholar-athletes were honored Wednesday in an awards ceremony that also recognized 103 underclass scholar-athletes at the Memorial Student Center.
Seniors Sam Arnott (Tomahawk), Jessica Behnke (Bruce), Carl Bombardier (Valcourt, Quebec), Michael Bond (Milwaukee), Morgan Denny (Luck), Xanath Guzman (Winchester), Cortney Hallahan (Lester Prairie, Minn), Jada Hamilton (Rice Lake), Allie Hancock (Greendale), Cody Hodowanic (Gilman), Lynzi Knudtson (Melrose), Kasey Kruse (Menomonie), Kelly Ledwein (Lino Lakes, Minn), Blake Lentner (Ramsey, Minn), David Linsmeyer (Mauston), Jake Lunow (Princeton), Alison Morris (Edina, Minn), Tyler Naatz (Menomonie), Mesha Peterson (Fort Myers, Fla), Josie Petersson (Brookfield), Megan Ramp (Batavia, Ill), Sara Rosewicz (Edgar), Paul VanGrinsven (Little Chute), James Van Thiel (Hilbert), Meagan Ward (Eau Claire), Adam Widder (Wauwatosa), Dylan Willett (Somerset) and Alanna Zajac (Andover, Minn). were honored and received a specially designed medallion to be worn during graduation ceremonies.
The UW-Stout Scholar Athlete Award is given to student-athletes with a cumulative 3.50 grade point average in the semester preceding their final season of eligibility. Each recipient invited an academic faculty or staff member who had a positive impact on their time at UW-Stout.
Participating in the ceremony were Jacalyn Weissenburger, provost; Phillip Lyons, vice-chancellor of Administrative and Student Life Services; Joan Thomas, dean of students; and
Duey Naatz, athletic director.
The medallion was designed by student-athletes Kate Mikutowski and Zak Snell. The Scholar Athlete Award program is supported by the offices of the Chancellor; Academic and Student Affairs; and Administrative and Student Life Services.
