Photo GalleryMENOMONIE (February 14, 2015) - UW-River Falls scored three unanswered goals to break a 2-2 tie and went on to complete the three game season sweep with a 5-2 win over UW-Stout Saturday at the Fanetti Community Center.
UW-Stout (8-14-1, 3-7-0 WIAC) drew first blood when Tyler Cayember scored at the 6:19 mark of the first period, with assists by
Riley Colvard and
Danny Ray.
The Falcons (18-4-1, 7-3-0 WIAC)Â tied the score at 11:36 on a power play goal by Kyle Gattelaro, then took the lead on a goal by Mitch Kotney at 14:39, just as Stout was coming out of the penalty box.
The teams went into the locker room tied after
Joey Haydock scored on the power play at 18:59, with assists by
Derek Sand and
Justin Moody.
Kotney picked up what would prove to be the game-winning goal at 5:09 of the second period. Jeff Bergh scored on the power play at 12:17 and Mike Dietrich gave the Falcons a three goal lead at 2:19 of the final period.
Stout's
Chase Hollander (So, Random Lake) recorded 29 saves, while the Falcons' Tanner Milliron recorded 33 saves.
Stout will host UW-Eau Claire, Thursday, Feb. 19 at 8 p.m. and UW-Superior, Friday, Feb. 20 at 7:30 p.m. to close out the regular season.
