Goldsmith gets double-double, Kastens has career day, Stout wins

NASHVILLE, Tenn (December 30, 2015) - Jenna Goldsmith (Jr, St. Anthony, Minn) collected her second consecutive double-double, Sarah Schoch (Jr, Chippewa Falls) was in double digits for the fourth consecutive game and Stephanie Kastens (Sr, Wausau) came off the bench to score a career high as UW-Stout defeated Hamilton College, 76-62, on the final day of the Music City Classic Wednesday.

The Blue Devils (6-4) trailed the entire first quarter, but kicked into gear in the second stanza and never trailed once getting the lead on a Danielle Adams jumper two minutes into the quarter. Stout built up as a much as a 20 point lead late in the game and held a double-digit lead through much of the second half after taking a 41-34 halftime lead.

Goldsmith scored 12 points and pulled down six rebounds in the first half on her way to scoring a team-high 16 points and 11 rebounds for her third double-double of the season. Schoch scored eight of her 14 points in the second half and finished with six rebounds.

Kastens keyed a strong effort by the Blue Devil bench, where Stout's bench outscored Hamilton's bench, 31-16. The senior tossed in a career-high 13 points.

The Continentals were led by Sam Graber's game-high 24 points.

Stout dominated the game off the glass, pulling down a season-high 52 rebounds to 30 for Hamilton. Each of the starters had at least four rebounds, with Kyleigh Hebert (Sr, Spencer) and Schoch snaring six and freshman guard Shannan Watkins (Hoover, Ala) taking five.

Stout was 24-of-58 from the floor, 4-of-15 from 3-point range and 24-of-39 from the line. Hamilton was 22-of-61 from the floor, 4-of-15 from long range and 14-of-22 from the line.

Stout will conclude non-conference action when they host St. Mary's University, Saturday, Jan. 2 at 2 p.m. Stout will open conference play when they travel to UW-Whitewater, Wednesday, Jan. 6.
