Warhawks make short work of Blue Devils, take 3-0 WIAC win

WHITEWATER (November 3, 2015) - UW-Whitewater took just over an hour to defeat UW-Stout, 3-0, in the first round of the WIAC Volleyball Championship, presented by Culver's, Tuesday at Russell Arena.

The third-seeded Warkhawks (29-4) took a 25-12, 25-18, 25-19 decision in the conference quarterfinal match-up that saw UW-Stout (16-18) hit just barely over .000 for the match. Stout had as many errors as kills in the first set, had 11 errors compared to nine kills in the middle set and nine kills and five errors in the third set to finish the night hitting .019.

Stout put down 25 kills compared to 45 for the Warhawks. Whitewater had one solo block and 16 block assists, compared to 10 block assists for Stout. The Warhawks had four service aces, the Blue Devils one.

Stout no one record over the eight kills presented by Ashley Pratt (So, Lakeville, Minn). Molly Brion (Sr, Cameron) closed out her career with six kills and eight digs, 1137 for her career. Payton Schultz (Fr, Faribault, Minn) had a team-high 15 digs. Schultz had established the school record for digs in a single season and finished the season with 658.

The Warhawks got 11 kills from Sydney Rackey and 10 from Julie Pfeifer. Courtney Wagner has six block assists.

The Warhawks advance to the WIAC semi-finals and will face UW-La Crosse at UW-Oshkosh, Friday, Nov. 6.
