UW-Stout 83, Simpson College 75 (Box Score)ST. PETER, Minn (November 21, 2015) -
Jenna Goldsmith (Jr, St.Anthony, Minn) scored a career-high 23 points and collected her first double-double of the season as UW-Stout defeated Simpson College, 83-75, at the Gustavus Adolphus Classic Saturday.
Goldsmith shot 8-of-17 from the field for a game-high 23 points, collecting 15 points in the first half as Stout (1-2) held a 43-39 halftime lead. Goldsmith also pulled down 12 rebounds, recorded two blocked shots, two steals and one assist. Goldsmith was 7-of-7 from the free throw line.
Sophomore guard
Haley Seifert (So, Ladysmith) chipped in a career-best 11 points. The Blue Devils held a clear advantage at the free throw line, making 24-of-32 charity shots to 9-of-20 for Simpson.
The Storm (1-3) took a 19-16 lead after the first quarter, but Stout surged ahead for good with a 27-16 advantage in the second quarter.
Maddie Bosworth and Mackenzie Haupt each scored 13 points to lead the Storm. Morgan Mauro added 11 points.
Stout will be at Augsburg College, Monday, Nov. 23, then will host Hamline University, Tuesday, Nov. 24 at 6 p.m.
