UW-Stout 1, UW-River Falls 1 RIVER FALLS (October 14, 2015) - It looked like UW-Stout might be heading for a fifth consecutive loss until
Sydney Kasper (Fr, Owatonna, Minn) picked up
Addy Maher's (Sr, Racine) rebounded shot and scored with 44 seconds remaining in regulation and the Blue Devils tied UW-River Falls, 1-1, Wednesday.
Stout's (6-5-3, 2-3-1 WIAC) offense had been kept out of the net the last four games. And the Falcons (5-7-1, 0-3-1 WIAC) held a commanding lead in shots throughout the game, holding a 22-10 advantage.
The Falcons got on the board in the 45th minute when Maggie Koehler scored in 55 seconds before halftime.
Both team picked up their game in the second half as each team put four shots on frame after the break. The Blue Devils tied the game when Maher put a shot on that was blocked by Falcon goalie Erica Cimochowski, but the rebound went to Kasper who put the ball home, picking up her fourth goal of the season.
The Falcons put one shot on net near the end of the first overtime period, and Stout's
Paige Meyer (Sr, Beldenville) picked up her seventh save of the night. Neither put a shot on net the rest of the way. Cimochowski finished the night with four saves.
Stout is off until they resume action with a non-conference contest at Gustavus Adolphus, Wednesday, Oct. 21. Stout will host UW-Whitewater in their final conference game of the season, Saturday, Oct. 24 and will close the home portion of the schedule, Sunday, Oct. 25 when they host UM-Morris.
