Kizlik sisters help Blue Devils get season underway with 2-0 win

WINONA, Minn (September 3, 2014) - After a delay to the start of the 2014 schedule, UW-Stout got off on the right foot with a 2-0 shutout win St. Mary's University Wednesday at Ochrymowycz Field.

Sisters Lauren Kizlik (So, Hammond) and Jenna Kizlik (Jr, Hammond) accounted for all of the Blue Devils (1-0-0) points and the Blue Devil defense allowed goalkeeper Paige Meyer (Jr,Beldenville) to have to make only two saves throughout the evening.

Lauren Kizlik scored in the 32nd minute, getting an assist from big sister Jenna. Lauren scored her second goal of the evening about 10 minutes into the second half, scoring unassisted.

Meyer, meanwhile,did not have to field a shot on net in the first half, and didn't record a save until the 58th minute. Overall, Stout outshot St. Mary's 18-5. The Cardinals' (1-1-0) Miranda Halling recorded seven saves.

Stout was scheduled to open their season Friday, Aug. 29, but that game was washed out. Stout will host the College of St. Benedict, Sunday, Sept. 7 at 1 p.m.
