ST. PAUL, Minn. (September 20, 2014) - UW-Stout made it a clean sweep at the St. Kate's Invitational hosted by St. Catherine's University, but it wasn't easy the Blue Devils had to dig deep to score a 3-2 win over host St. Catherine in the final match Saturday. Earlier in the day, Stout swept past Grinnell College, 3-0
The two teams alternated wins, with St. Kate (9-8) winning sets one and three (25-18, 25-21), while Stout (10-5) kept coming back to tie the match by taking sets two and four (25-14, 25-23). The match came down to the final set, which was separated by no more than two points throughout. With the score tied at 16-16, Stout's
Olivia Jung (So, Andover, Minn) recorded a kill to put Stout up by one and
Ashley Pratt (Fr, Lakeville,Minn) got the final kill to give Stout the set and the match.
Jung finished the match with a collegiate-best 18 kills tolead Stout against the Wildcats. Pratt added 11 kills. Pratt also had two solo blocks and four assisted blocks. Stout finished the match with four solo blocks and 22 assisted blocks.
Earlier in the day in the win over Grinnell,
Morgan Denny (Sr, Luck) tallied 15 kills as Stout won 25-19, 25-19, 25-14. Denny had two solo blocks and an assisted block.

Karley Wiensch (Sr, Chippewa Falls) were selected to the all-tournament team. Denny finished the tournament with 53 kills, averaging 3.31 kills per set. Denny had three solo blocks and 13 assisted blocks. Wiensch finished the weekend with 162 assists, averaging 10.12 assists per set.
The Blue Devils are off until they open conference play by hosting UW-Platteville, Friday, Sept. 26 at 7 p.m.
