UW-Stout 3, Curry College 2
OSWEGO, NY (January 4, 2014) - UW-Stout scored three power play goals on their way to a 3-2 win over Curry College at the Pathfinder Bank/Oswego Classic at Oswego State Saturday.
The Blue Devils (4-8-0) took advantage of the one-man advantage twice in the first period, then followed that up the eventual game-winning goal by
Logan Maly (Sr, Rio) on the power play in the third period.
Stout got things going early in the contest when
Jake Useldinger (So, East Grand Forks, Minn) scored at 6:17 of the first stanza, with assists by
Danny Ray (So, Grand Forks, ND) and
Riley Colvard (Fr, Centerville, Minn). The Blue Devils added their second power play goal of the period when
Matt Millis (Jr, Black River Falls) scored at 9:10, getting assists from Ray and Kevin O'Donnell (Sr, Stoughton).
The Colonels cut the score in half when Brandon Gilmore scored at 17:50 of the first period.
Following a scoreless second period, Maly, who was named to the all-tournament team, got the eventual game winner at 9:13, again on the power play, getting the assist from
Zach Vierling (Jr, Coon Rapids, Minn). Curry pulled to within the final score when Michael Vallesaurs scored at 14:58 of the third period.
The Blue Devils limited Curry's shot production and Stout goalie
Corey Koop (Fr, Squamish, BC) recorded 19 saves.
Stout returns to the Midwest and will be at St. John's University, Friday Jan. 10 and at Concordia-Moorhead, Saturday, Jan. 11.
