Stout splits matches on final day of Wheaton Invitational

WHEATON, Ill (September 28, 2013) - UW-Stout split their matches on the final day of the Wheaton College Thunder Invitational, falling 3-0 to Carthage College in the morning, then downing North Central College, 3-1, in the early Saturday afternoon match.

The Blue Devils (12-5) lost to 24th ranked Carthage, 25-12, 25-20, 25-15, then came back to defeat North Central College, 29-27, 25-21, 18-25, 25-23.

Against Carthage, the Blue Devils were held to only .021 hitting percentage, with Morgan Denny (Jr, Luck) leading Stout with seven kills, two solo blocks and one block assist. Carthage's Emily Heuermann had 14 kills. Carthage had seven solo blocks and two block assists.

Against North Centlral, Karley Wiensch (Jr, Chippewa Falls) finished with 48 assists. Wensch was selected to the all-tournament team after recording 179 assists in the tournament.

Laura Reiter (So, Lino Lakes, Minn) finished with 15 kills. Miranda Haug (Fr, Forest Lake, Minn) had 12 kills. Denny had nine kills, three solo blocks and three assisted blocks.

Stout will be at UW-Superior, Wednesday, Oct. 2, then will host UW-Whitewater, Friday, Oct. 4 and UW-Oshkosh, Saturday, Oct. 5.
