Fawcett scores game winning goal in OT as Stout downs La Crosse

Box Score  | UW-Stout 2, UW-La Crosse 1

LA CROSSE (September 28, 2013) - Camille Fawcett (Fr, Byron, Minn) scored the game-winning goal only a couple of minutes into overtime to lift UW-Stout to a 2-1 win over UW-La Crosse Saturday.

Fawcett took a nice cross pass from Kelly Conn (Fr, Menasha) 1-minute, 45-seconds into the overtime period and headed the ball into the net to give Stout (3-7-1, 1-1-0 WIAC) their first conference win of the season and to break a seven game winless streak. The goal was Fawcett's first of her collegiate career.

The Eagles (2-6-1, 1-1-1 WIAC) got on the board first when Sarah Jacobs scored in the 55th minute.

Stout was able to answer that goal on a penalty kick when Emily Ferger (Sr, Wauwatosa) punched the ball into the net in the 76th minute.

Robbie Shelby (Jr, La Crosse) recorded the win, making seven saves. The Eagles' Ashley Tracy had six saves.

The win also gave Stout their first win over the Eagles in nine matches.

Stout will be at UW-Superior, Saturday, Oct. 5.
