Bob Raczek, a 2013 Hall of Fame inductee, passes away Sunday

Raczek coached football at Stevens Point Pacelli for more than 50 years, second winningest high school coach

MOSINEE (July 30, 2013) - One of the winningest high school football coaches in Wisconsin and a UW-Stout graduate, Bob Raczek, passed away Sunday, July 28, after a long battle with prostate cancer.

Raczek was an offensive lineman for the Blue Devils from 1956-60, earning all-conference honors his senior year as a center. Raczek, also a three-year wrestling letterwinner and a member of the Stout track team, was an assistant football coach for the 1961 season as he pursued his masters degree. Raczek is scheduled to be inducted into the UW-Stout Hall of Fame on Nov. 2.

Raczek started his high school coaching career at Plainfield Tri-County High School, then moved to Stevens Point Pacelli in 1967, coaching there until his death, posting a 360-265-2 overall record, which currently ranks him second in Wisconsin in total wins. Raczek's Pacelli teams have won 12 conference titles, have been to the state championship game nine times and won state titles in 1986, 1995 and 2005. The Pacelli High School football field was named in honor of Raczek in 2008.

Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Saturday August 3, 2013 at St. Peter Catholic Church at 800 Fourth Ave. in Stevens Point.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Pacelli Student Activity Center (Lower Gymnasium) and from 9 a.m. until the time of services at St. Peter Church on Saturday morning.
