Green Knights take 4-1 win over Blue Devils; teams to meet again next week

MENOMONIE (February 8, 2013) - St. Norbert College scored the first three goals of the game on their way to a 4-1 win over UW-Stout Friday at the Dunn County Ice Arena.

The Green Knights (18-5-1, 12-4-1 NCHA), the No. 2 seed for the NCHA Peters Cup, will host the seventh seeded Blue Devils next weekend in a two-game quarterfinal series. Both games, Friday, Feb. 15 and Saturday, Feb. 16, will begin at 7 p.m. at Cornerstone Community Center.

St. Norbert scored only 1-minute, 13-seconds into the game when Carl Ekstrom scored. Five minutes later, Cody Keeler got his first of two goals in the game and the goal would prove to be the game-winning-goal.

The Knights took a 3-0 lead on Chris Rial's second period goal at 10:44.

Stout (10-13-2, 5-13-0 NCHA) lit the lampless than a minute later when Sam Carr (Sr, Roseau, Minn), playing his final home contest scored, with assists from vMatt Millisv (So, Black River Falls) and Russell Whited (Jr, Indianapolis, Ind).

Keeler scored the final goal of the game with just under five minutes remaining.

The Blue Devils outshot the Knights, 29-26. Stout's Nick Hopper (Sr, Culver City, Calif) recorded 22 saves, while St. Norbert's David Jacobson talled 28.
