MENOMONIE (February 7, 2013) - UW-Stout wasted little time jumping out to a lead, but the excitement for the Blue Devils was short-lived as UW-Stevens Point roared back to take an 8-3 win at the Dunn County Ice Arena Thursday.

Matt Millis (So, Black River Falls) scored his first goal of the season, scoring on;ly 1-minute, 4-seconds into the contest, getting an assist from
Sam Carr (Sr, Roseau, Minn).
Stout (10-12-2, 5-12-0 NCHA, 2-10-0 WIAC) kept Stevens Point (14-9-1, 8-8-1 NCHA, 7-4-1 WIAC) at bay for the next 15 minutes, but once the Pointers tickled the back of the twine, the floodgates opened and they rolled to a a 6-1 lead before Stout's
Danny Ray (Fr, Grand Forks, ND) scored eight minutes into the third period.
The Pointers tied the game at 16:16 in the first period on on a goal by Garrett Ladd. Evan Dixon gave the Pointers the 2-1 lead with 53 seconds remaining in the first stanza. Kyle Heck scored on the power play midway through the second period. Three minutes later, Andrew Kolb scored his first of two goals. Kyle Politz scored at the 13-minute mark to give the Pointers a 5-1 lead.
Joshua Daley scored almost two minutes into the third period before Ray stopped the bleeding to make the score 6-2. Ladd scored at the nine minute mark and Kolb scored at the 11 minute mark.
#Joe Beaudettev (Sr, Blaine, Minn) scored on the power play for Stout for the final 8-3 score.
Nick Hopper (Sr, Culver City, Calif) was chased from the goal after giving up his sixth goal. He recorded 23 saves.
Eric Wobschall (So, Owatonna, Minn) came on in relief, making five saves and giving up two goals. Brandon Jaeger had 22 saves for the Pointers.
The loss knocks Stout out of any possibility of hosting a home NCHA playoff game.
The Blue Devils will host St. Norbert College, Friday, Feb. 8 at 7:30 p.m. in the final home contest of the season. The game will also be senior night.
