St. Norbert takes Peters Cup quarterfinal game from Blue Devils

St. Norbert College 3, UW-Stout 2

DE PERE (February 15, 2013) - UW-Stout's Kevin O'Donnell (Jr, Stoughton) scored early in the game, but St. Norbert came back to score the next three goals on their way to downing the Blue Devils, 3-2, in a quarterfinal game of the NCHA Peters Cup Friday at Cornerstone Community Center.

O'Donnell moved in on St. Norbert goalie David Jacobson and scored just over a minute into the contest, getting assists from Charles Lachance (Sr, Quebec City, Quebec) and Russell Whited (Jr, Indianapolis, Ind).

But the fifth-ranked Green Knights (20-5-1) would take the lead late in the first period on a pair of goals by Kyle Stroh. Stroh scored at 14:10, then just over two minutes later put St. Norbert up, 2-1.

The Knights stretched the lead to 3-1 on a power play goal by Cody Keefer at 6:58 in the second period.

Stout (10-14-2) pulled to within a goal when Lachance scored three minutes into the third period, assisted by O'Donnell and Joe Beaudette (Sr, Blaine, Minn).

Stout's Nick Hopper (Sr, Culver City, Calif) finished the night with 30 saves, 15 in the first period. The Knights' Jacobson finished with 16 saves.

The two teams will meet again in the best of two series, Saturday, Feb. 16 at 7 p.m. A Stout win would force a tie-breaking mini-game.
