MENOMONIE (October 12, 2013) - UW-Whitewater scored two goals within four minutes of each other to break open a scoreless tie and go on to defeat UW-Stout, 2-0, Saturday at Nelson Field.

After an even first half, it was the Warhawks' Carina Krausert that made the difference. Krausert took a rebounded shot off the cross bar and headed the ball into the net in the 58th minute for what would prove to be the game-winning goal. Less than four minutes later, Krausert took a pass from Brianna Reid and scored again.

Stout (5-8-1, 3-2-0 WIAC) outshot the 18th-ranked Warhawks 6-5 in the first half, but the Warhawks (10-0-3, 5-0-0 WIAC)  controlled the field in the second half, outshooting Stout 8-2 in the second to take a 13-8 margin in the game.

The Blue Devils' Robbie Shelby (Jr, La Crosse) recorded six saves, while the Warhawks' Jordan Myers recorded five saves.

Stout is off until Wednesday, Oct. 23 when they travel to UW-River Falls.
